Pool in Lamont, CA
Lamont is an unincorporated Kern County community on State Route 184 and Weedpatch Highway southeast of Bakersfield, surrounded by carrot, potato, and vegetable ground, and near the Sunset Labor Camp that Steinbeck used as the model for the government camp in The Grapes of Wrath.
The community is dense by rural valley standards with compact lots and an older housing stock. That means most Lamont pool work is repair and resurfacing rather than new construction, and it means access is often tight. County permitting applies.
Agricultural dust here is as heavy as anywhere in the county, so filtration sizing is the first thing we look at.
About Lamont, CA — and why local matters here
Lamont sits in Kern County with a population of roughly 14,000, close enough to Bakersfield that crews move between the two constantly. Local landmarks and corridors residents know well include State Route 184 and Weedpatch Highway, the Sunset Labor Camp site and the carrot and potato ground south of Bakersfield.
Local knowledge is not a marketing line here. Lamont properties share soil, weather, permit rules and construction eras with the rest of Kern County, and a pool contractor who works the area weekly already knows what fails locally and what holds up. That is the difference between a bid and an accurate bid.

What we take on in Lamont
Bakersfield Pool Builders covers the same range of work in Lamont that we do in Bakersfield — nothing is carved out because the address is a few miles up the road:
- Waterline Tile & Coping — Bakersfield Pool Builders installs waterline tile and coping for Valley pools under hard sun and mineral-heavy water. Waterline tile fails early when hard water and movement meet weak prep.
- Pool Decks & Hardscape — Bakersfield Pool Builders pours and finishes pool decks for Central Valley heat, glare, and soil movement after water season. Dark slick decks are a barefoot hazard by July.
- Spa & Hot Tub Installation — Bakersfield Pool Builders adds and rebuilds spas for evenings when the valley cools after brutal afternoons. Spas earn their keep as the cool seat after hundred-degree days.
- Water Features & Fountains — Pool water features do something genuinely useful in Kern County beyond looking good: they cool the water. Aeration is the only practical way to pull heat out of a pool that has been sitting in 105-degree sun all week, and a waterfall or a set of bubblers running overnight will drop the temperature by several degrees by morning.
- LED Pool Lighting — Bakersfield Pool Builders installs LED pool lights that survive Valley sun, dust, and long bright evenings. UV here is relentless on north-facing nothing; every exposed lens takes full summer sun.
- Pool Automation & Controls — Pool automation ties the pump, heater, salt cell, valve actuators, lights, and water features into one panel with an app on top, so the pump schedule, the spa changeover, the light color, and the waterfall all happen on a timer or a tap. In Kern County there are two specific reasons it pays for itself faster than the brochure claims, and neither is convenience.
